Pratt's 5 Wives

Zadock Pratt was married five times, which was not uncommon in the early 19th century since women’s work was hard and they often died of consumption or in childbirth. Pratt’s first two wives died of consumption; his third wife died in childbirth.

The first two wives were sisters, Beda and Esther Dickerman of Jewett, NY. Beda married Zadock in 1817 and died in 1819. Esther and Zadock married in 1821; she died in 1824.
